Lovable’s plans are easy to read. The credit system underneath them is where people get surprised, because one balance now pays for three separate things: building your app, hosting it, and running the AI features inside it.
That’s why $25 is the floor for Pro, not the answer to “what will this cost me.” This guide walks through every plan, what actually drains credits, and how to arrive at a realistic monthly figure for your own project before you pay anything.
THE SHORT ANSWER
Most people should start on Pro 100 at $25/month, billed monthly. Free is for evaluating. Business at $50/month gives you the same 100 credits as Pro — you’re paying double for SSO and admin controls, not capacity. Build the smallest useful version, watch your usage for a month, then decide whether to size up or switch to annual.
| Plan | Price | Included credits | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 5 daily build credits, capped at 30/month; 20 Cloud and 4 AI credits/month | Trying Lovable and building small projects |
| Pro | From $25/month | From 100 general credits/month; 5 daily build credits; 20 Cloud and 4 AI credits/month | Individuals and teams building real apps |
| Business | From $50/month | From 100 general credits/month; 5 daily build credits; 20 Cloud and 4 AI credits/month | Teams needing SSO and admin controls |
| Enterprise | Custom | Volume-based and contract-specific | Large organizations with compliance requirements |
Pro and Business get identical credit allocations at every tier. Business costs roughly twice as much because it adds organizational controls, not building capacity. (At the 7,500- and 10,000-credit tiers, Business is slightly less than double.)
A credit is Lovable’s unit for measuring usage across a workspace. General credits pay for three things:
The unified balance is rolling out gradually. Some older workspaces may still show separate Cloud and AI balances, but Lovable’s current system and documentation are built around one general balance.
Lovable charges differently depending on how you use its agent:
| Prompt | Work done | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| “Make the button gray” | Updates button styling | 0.50 |
| “Remove the footer” | Removes the footer component | 0.90 |
| “Add authentication with sign up and login” | Adds authentication pages and logic, then updates routes | 1.20 |
| “Build me a landing page, use images” | Creates a themed page with five sections and three generated images | 1.70 |
These are examples, not fixed prices — and Lovable’s own two sources don’t fully agree. Its pricing page lists that landing-page build at 1.70 credits; its developer docs put a near-identical example at 2.00 credits. Treat the published figures as a rough floor rather than a quote.
A request costs more when Lovable has to inspect a large codebase, verify multiple changes, run browser checks, search the web, or generate images. You don’t get an estimate before a Build mode request starts. The final cost appears under the three-dot menu beneath Lovable’s response — check it early and often while you’re learning what your prompts cost.
Free, Pro, and Business workspaces all receive three usage-specific grants, spent before your general credits:
| Grant | Free | Pro and Business | Rolls over? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daily build credits | 5/day, capped at 30/month | 5/day, no monthly cap | No |
| Monthly Cloud grant | 20 credits | 20 credits | No |
| Monthly AI grant | 4 credits | 4 credits | No |
Those 5 daily build credits on paid plans are worth planning around. Used consistently, they add roughly 150 credits a month on top of your plan allowance — more than the Pro 100 plan itself provides. Log in and use them, or lose them at midnight UTC.
Once a grant is exhausted, that category starts drawing from your general balance. Lovable describes the monthly Cloud and AI grants as a temporary offering, so don’t build a long-term budget assuming they’ll always be there.
Free gives you 5 build credits per day until you hit 30 in a calendar month. In practice that means you get credits for about six days, then wait until the 1st of the next month. Unused daily credits expire at the end of each day.
You can create workspace-private projects, invite unlimited members, connect GitHub or GitLab, use Lovable’s built-in backend, and publish to a lovable.app address. No card required.
You cannot connect a custom domain, remove the “Edit with Lovable” badge, edit or download code directly, or buy top-ups while on Free.
REALITY CHECK
Free is enough to find out whether you like Lovable’s workflow, and possibly finish something very small. It’s a frustrating plan for sustained development, because you can exhaust the entire monthly build allowance inside a week and there’s no way to pay past it.
Both paid plans use the same credit ladder. Annual billing costs ten times the monthly price at every tier, which works out to two months free.

Custom domains, badge removal, Code mode for direct code editing, workspace roles and permissions, credit rollover, and access to top-ups and auto top-up. Workspaces have unlimited members, so Pro is not priced per seat — a five-person team on Pro 100 pays $25, not $125.
SSO, restricted projects inside a workspace, the ability to opt out of data training, reusable design templates, and per-user monthly credit limits that admins can set individually. These matter to an organization with security review or shared-budget concerns. They give an individual builder nothing extra in capacity.
BEFORE YOU UPGRADE A TIER
Moving from 100 to 200 monthly credits sets your total to 200. It doesn’t deposit a fresh 200 on top of what you already had. Credits you’re holding keep their original expiry dates.
There’s no honest universal multiplier for Lovable’s sticker price. Your bill is:
THE COST FORMULA
Subscription price + manual top-ups + auto top-ups
Third-party services — payment processing, email providers, external APIs — bill separately, outside Lovable.
Everything past the subscription line depends on how much you build and how busy your app gets. Here’s where to start:
| What you’re doing | Sensible starting point | What pushes the bill up |
|---|---|---|
| Evaluating Lovable | Free, $0 | Hitting the 30-credit monthly build cap |
| Building a simple prototype | Pro 100, $25/month | Redesigns, debugging, vague prompts, image generation |
| Launching a small live app | Pro 100, $25/month, auto top-up on | Traffic, database work, uploads, backend functions, runtime AI |
| Active team development | Pro 200–400, $50–$100/month | Several builders sharing one workspace balance |
| Organization-wide workspace | Business, from $50/month | Required governance features plus combined team usage |
These are starting points, not forecasts. The only number that matters is your own after a representative week. Lovable’s Settings → Plans & credit usage → Usage details separates Build credits from Run credits and shows which projects and people are spending them. Check it after seven days of normal work and multiply out.
Lovable’s example costs are a fair starting reference, but user reports suggest the gap between them and real spend has been widening. In a widely shared Lovable subreddit thread, one builder who’d been on the platform since late 2025 said 100 credits used to last about six weeks and now don’t stretch past a month. Another posted a screenshot of a single WhatsApp icon swap costing 4.5 credits — roughly nine times the 0.50 credits Lovable lists for a comparable style change.
Not everyone reads that as a price increase. One commenter in the same thread pointed out that Lovable now does more per message behind the scenes: debugging, checking multiple screen sizes, running tests automatically. The counterpoint was that credit consumption had outpaced those improvements. Either way, the budgeting lesson is the same — plan above the published examples, not to them.
We put 29 AI website and app builders through the same test: one identical opening brief, one identical follow-up edit list, scored against the same criteria. Lovable did well on prompt adherence, visual design, and content quality. Its Ease of Editing score was 4.5 out of 10, the weakest part of an otherwise solid Builder Experience result.
Navigation, contact-form validation, and the mobile menu all failed on the first pass and needed rework before the site was usable. That’s the part the published credit examples don’t price. Generating version one takes a handful of credits. Finding and fixing everything that looks finished but doesn’t work takes many more. The demo is the cheap part.
Pro plan credits cost $0.25 each at the 100-credit tier, falling to about $0.225 at the largest tiers. Pro top-ups always cost $0.30 per credit. Business top-ups cost $0.60.
So if you’re buying top-ups most months, run the comparison. Pro 100 plus two 50-credit top-ups costs $55 and gives you 200 general credits. Pro 200 gives you the same 200 credits for $50. Upgrading is cheaper, and you stop thinking about it.
his is the most important part of Lovable’s pricing if your project has real users. When no applicable grant or general credit remains:
A purely static frontend keeps serving its pages. But plenty of Lovable projects that look simple still use authentication, form storage, or backend functions somewhere. Test your app as a user and check its Run usage before assuming it will behave like a static site.
THE FAILURE IS PARTIAL, WHICH MAKES IT WORSE
Your frontend can load normally while login, saved data, uploads, and AI features fail behind it. To a visitor, a zero balance looks like a broken product, not a billing notice. One Reddit user reported losing paying customers this way — credits ran out unnoticed and parts of the app stopped working before they caught it. Turn on auto top-up and set a spend cap before you invite real users.
Unused monthly plan credits roll over automatically while your paid subscription stays active. Monthly plan credits expire two months after issue; credits on an annual plan expire one month after the annual period ends. Daily build credits and the monthly Cloud and AI grants never roll over.
| Plan | Top-up price | Price per credit |
|---|---|---|
| Pro | $15 per 50 credits | $0.30 |
| Business | $30 per 50 credits | $0.60 |
One-time top-ups run from 50 to 10,000 credits, land in your workspace immediately, and stay valid for 12 months. Buying them doesn’t change your plan or billing date.
Auto top-up lets you set a trigger threshold (25, 50, or 100 credits), a top-up amount (50 to 1,000 credits), and a monthly spend limit. The default adds 100 credits whenever your balance falls to 25, capped at 400 auto-added credits per calendar month.
TWO SETTINGS WORTH CHANGING
Raise the threshold to 50 or 100 if your app has real traffic — the 25-credit default is tuned for light use, and a busy app can burn through that before you notice the alert.
Keep a monthly spend cap. High enough to cover normal usage, low enough that a traffic spike or a runaway feature can’t produce an open-ended bill.
One quirk to watch: Lovable pauses auto top-up when you move from Pro to Business, because the per-credit price doubles. You have to review and switch it back on, or it silently stays off.
Annual billing: every published Pro and Business tier costs ten times its monthly price. Entry Pro is $250/year instead of $300 — an effective $21/month.
Student discount: verified students get 50% off the Pro 100-credit monthly plan, bringing it to $12.50/month. Higher tiers get a flat $12.50 monthly discount instead. It runs up to 12 months, is only available to users on Free when they apply, and cannot be reactivated if you cancel.
Nonprofit discount: Lovable doesn’t publish a standard nonprofit rate on its pricing page. Contact them directly and get terms in writing before building a discount into your budget.
All four bill in different units, so comparing entry prices alone is misleading.
| Tool | Entry paid plan | Primary unit | Hosting |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lovable | $25/month | 100 general credits plus included grants | Cloud and AI usage draw from grants, then the general balance |
| Base44 | $20/month, or $16/month annually | 100 message credits and 2,000 integration credits | Core hosting and backend included; third-party services can charge separately |
| Bolt | $25/month | 10 million build tokens | Hosting, up to 1 million web requests, and unlimited databases included |
| v0 | $20/month (Premium); $30/user/month for Team | $20 in monthly generation credits | Apps deploy to Vercel, billed separately |
Lovable is the cleanest all-in-one, but development and live-app usage eventually pull from the same balance. Monitoring and auto top-up matter more here than anywhere else on this list.
Base44 keeps message credits and integration credits separate. A spike in live usage doesn’t directly eat the allowance you build with — a real advantage if predictable budgeting is your priority.
Bolt meters AI building in tokens with defined hosting allowances. Token consumption tends to grow as your codebase does, since more project context gets processed per request.
v0 is the cheapest entry point at $20/month, but it’s frontend-focused and deployment runs through Vercel, so generation and production hosting stay on separate bills. Cheaper to start, more pieces to assemble.
| Choose | If this describes you | Don’t choose it merely for |
|---|---|---|
| Free | You’re evaluating Lovable, or making something very small without a custom domain | Ongoing development |
| Pro 100 | You’re building your first serious prototype, MVP, internal tool, or small live app | A guaranteed fixed bill under unpredictable traffic |
| Higher Pro tier | Your usage history shows regular top-ups would cost more than upgrading | Credits you might need someday |
| Business | Your team needs SSO, restricted projects, data-training opt-out, or per-user credit caps | More credits than Pro |
| Enterprise | You need contract-specific scale, compliance, procurement, and dedicated support | A self-serve individual project |
For most readers, start at Pro 100 on monthly billing. Ship the smallest useful version, watch your Build and Run usage for a month, then decide whether annual billing or a larger tier is justified. Committing to a year before you know your burn rate is how people end up overpaying.
Lovable is the wrong fit when you need a perfectly predictable operating cost, or when what you’re really building is a marketing website. A traditional website builder with AI-assisted creation gives you conventional hosting and no way for your editing activity to affect the same budget that keeps your live pages up.
Yes. Free includes 5 daily build credits capped at 30 per calendar month, plus monthly grants of 20 Cloud credits and 4 AI credits. It doesn't include custom domains, direct code editing or download, badge removal, or top-ups.
Pro starts at $25/month for 100 monthly general credits. Business starts at $50/month for the same credit allocation plus organizational controls. Both scale up to 10,000 monthly credits — $2,250 on Pro, $4,300 on Business.
Building stops and in-progress work pauses. AI features in deployed apps fail, and built-in backend services like the database, authentication, and storage pause shortly afterward. Your data stays safe but inaccessible until credits are available.
Monthly plan credits roll over while your paid subscription is active. Credits from monthly plans expire two months after issue; annual plan credits expire one month after the annual period ends. Daily build credits and the Cloud and AI grants do not roll over.
